Momentum: Love

Momentum: The Transformational Power of Love

Is an inspiring but painful story detailing the author’s journey out of darkness that began as a young child with his father’s addiction to alcohol. Gregory witnesses their once happy family destroyed by an invisible force that transformed his father into a man Gregory no longer recognized. What happened to his once loving father? What happened to their once happy home? What caused Gregory’s father to become so violent and set upon destroying their family?

Author Gregory S. Cope is open and honest about his father’s addiction, resulting destruction of their family, and ultimately the behavior that would transfer to Gregory’s own life. Gregory turned to alcohol and drugs as a way of escaping the reality of a trapped and seemingly hopeless life.

The violence extended to the school Gregory attended in Arizona, where he was picked on by a group of young punks. It seemed everywhere he went people were just as destructive and evil as his home life had become. What was wrong with people? It’s like a disease had spread everywhere, taking over people and controlling them.

He escaped his home at the age of 13 only to end up with a group of friends in a home that become a place of unlimited supply of alcohol and drugs. Gregory enjoyed the outer body experience as an escape from the reality of his hated life. He constantly got high until, one night, he overdosed and nearly died. His parents were clueless down the hall to his desperation, but as he laid in his bed dying, Gregory heard what sounded like a choir of angels singing to him. Gregory closed his eyes and embraced the fact that death was inevitable.

That experience inspired a change the very next day, setting him on a new path. A flicker of light began to break through the darkness, giving him a glimpse of hope. But what or who was this source of light? Was this light bright enough to dispel the surrounding darkness? Step inside and experience a journey out of the darkness and into the light of love you’ll never forget.
